Obsolete

Every day seems the same to me I sit around and think about how alone I feel. Then I wind up rather enjoying loneliness because it's the comfort of being sad. Sometimes it feels so right and sometimes I'd like to be around no one for ten straight years but I know this feeling can't bring me places and I know I'm losing lots of ground, but to keep up means to get up and why does it have to be the world keeps on changing while I just stay the same?

I feel like being down doesn't mean enough to anyone anymore, and I guess the world has made emotion obsolete and I don't think I feel the same 'cause after all who says what happy really means? Tonight I will redefine everything and tomorrow I will start in on my better days and so each their own definition of happiness but no one ever reaches it. So I don't think I'll breathe that way, but happiness is when there's nowhere left to go because in that state of mind there is no state of self. So how was I supposed to know?

hey girl.

Why come you only love me some days? Is it because you're jaded? Is it because you're young? Is it because I don't visit? Is it because I was right?

Scream.

I'm growing up so fast, and you're catching up much faster. Did I say catching up?
TOUR UPDATE 3: LUNENBOURGGG????

TOUR UPDATE 3: LUNENBOURGGG????

So I'm in a small town outside of halifax. it's nice. Let's pick up where we left off, shall we?

HALIFAX FUCKING SUCKS.

honestly, that town is shit. we played two shit shows in one night. I dont even want to talk about them. However we did meet some nice kids on the street, and this dude who is spearheading an olod RHCP revival band project. We've got it all on tape! GT's.

we slept in the van after Halifax. It sucked. it gets ludicrously hot in thurr. from hali, we drove to Sydney NS, on Cape Breton Island. Wer played there last year, and had a pretty good time.

Let's just say that this year beat the pants off of last year. So many nice kids. Jono of One Day Late let us stay in his camper trailer with low ceilings. "How low?" you aks. I'll tell you how low.

they were so low, that if you were to turn over in your sleep, you would scrape your shoulder on the stucco! they're jsut that low. I kid you not.

We played 2 shows in Sydney (in one night) and then spent the next day relaxing and recouperationg. That night, we went to a party at Zach's (guitarist from One Day Late). Good times. We are going to organise a competitve "caps" league, and have ontario vs nova scotia exhibition games. it will be a sexingly good time.

after sydney, we headed to scenic lunenbourg (where I am now). This town is alright. ITs purdy, but the show was kinda small. Still the kids were so nice. We met some people who were big fans, and had never seen us before, whihc was exciting. Especially when they sing along. Shout outs to Evan, Sandy, Garrett, Abby, and Ami (even though none of them have myspace, I still felt like doing that).

We spent last night in a barn. It wasnt really a barn at all, but thats what someone told us it was. It was more just.... awesome. I almost have my voice back 100%. I can talk normally, but some singing parts are still sketchy. I hope that will clear up asap. Nate says he missus my angelic crooning.

I love ya'll. I think we're home in 6 days??? and the guelph show may or may not be going on. More details as I get them.

SCHEDUAL

July 24th - Fredericton
July 25th - SUSSEX, NB (WOOOOOOOOOT)
July 26th - driving
July 27th - Montreal??
July 28th - Montreal!!
July 29th - Guelph.... or maybe Ottawa, I don't really know.
July 30th - Toronto

SEEE YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

TOUR UPDATE 2: HALIFAX

TOUR UPDATE 2: HALIFAX

soo computer access has been limited so far this tour. but ehres where we left off.

We had just driven from Quebec city to play a show at a dive called the barfly. We decided to check our email at a SHADY internet café (where my last blog came from). Nate borrows my computer for a bit to check his email, and this is what we get:

"Yeah, you guys can open for the Weakerthans. be here at 2PM for load in"

It was 9 o clock (PM) and the Weakerthans were playing just over 2 hours away, and we were supposed to be opening for them.

FUCK YOU CRUEL FATE.

honestly, it was the worst fucking nite ever. That was until we met these fucking rad montreal kids, hit up a bar, and got fucking serious. So many nice kids in Quebec (expecially Meg and Alesha). Its a fucking shame I can't understand what they're saying... ;)

after montreal was Rimouski (last night). It was a hall type show. We played with a couple of hardcore/emo/screamo bands, but kids seemed to be pretty into us. The thing about Quebec is that the further you get from ontario (or any other english speaking place) the less english the kids speak. Rimouski was full of kids who barely spoke a word of english.

Luckily ryan is a frog. So he could chat them all up. Needless to say, it made prowl crew difficult. We slept at this girls house with both of the other bands (the Awkward Picture, and ottawa's Is Grace Enough). IGE was english speaking, and therefore fuckign awesome. Together we got shitty, made fun of french people, and got shitty some more. We had to be up at 6:30 AM because we needed to go to...

HALIFAX

Which is where I am now. I drove pretty much all day (from about 7:30 AM til 6:30 PM) with only a short break. Im tired, and we have to play some shitty bar called hells kitchen. We have nowhere to stay tonight. Im kinda bitter. but this internet café is awesome.

I'm still missing you guys. Send love. I'm sending postcards.

TOUR UPDATE 1: MONTREAL

THIS IS POST DATED, FOR ONE NICK FAWCETT.

TOUR UPDATE 1: MONTREAL

Okay.

We played Toronto on wednesday. Huge blast. Tonnes of friends and family came out. It was magical. After spending the night at jay`s, we headed off to Montreal.

Daenen bought an iTrip. It lets us listen to his iPod over the radio. that is awesome.

As we arrived, our van started leaking copiuous amounts of gasoline all over the highway. We had at least a dozen french people tell us that, and tried to make it to a garage before we exploded.

Mission succesful. About an hour (and $50) later, we were back on the road. Montreal night one was alright. We played a bar called le Swimming. It was alright, not good. We met up with our good friends from Money Money and they let us crash in their motel room.

The next night we played in a tiny town called St-Prosper. People there spoke almost no english, but they were so receptive to our music. Amazing night. We were following our new found friends the Real Deal to a place to crash in montreal, when things got a bit foggy. And by a bit foggy, I mean dangerously low visibility was occuring. this caused us to pull into a gas station, and spend the night in the van, which wasnt that bad.

In the morning we packed up and headed back to montreal to stay at nates aunts. We thought we had the night off, but on our way we got a call from one Shawn Buckle. He informed us that he landed us a gig at a place called the Barfly.

MORE IMPORTANT (AND SADDENING) details to come.

Miss ya`ll

HALLAH!

So, it has been forever since I updated this badboy, but expect that to change.

I leave on tour in 8 days, and I plan on updating this badboy from the road, just like I did last year. Expect hilarious hilites, pictures, drunken rants, and stories about us narrowly avoiding being lynched by a mob of devout Lutherans.

We also played the best show of our lives last night. Our performance wasn't perfect, btu that didn't matter at all. The audience was so receptive, and energetic. Everyone was dancing and singing along and having an awesome time. We even managed to get the entire audience to slowdance during Unaware.

It was magical. Thanks to everyone who stayed for us. We hope to see you again on July 10th for another awesome dance party! Love.

SCENE 2004

It's official. We're playing the scene festival in St Kitts on July 11th. Holy fuck, it's goign to be one hell of a day. There are going to be about 50 million amazing bands there. To name a few that I am particualarly stoked to watch/play with:

The Fullblast
Bear VS Shark
Gatsby's American Dream
the Black Maria
Dallas Green
Cuff the Duke

This is going to be rock-fucking-tastic! Over 75 bands at 10 venues in one day for the low price of $11.50. I urge you to go to this. You won't regret it.

It also happens to be the very first day of our summer tour, 2004. I can't wait to get out of this town and out on the road doing the thing I love most. I'm stoked, you should be too.

Payce.

Everyone shoudl also stop utilizing their livejournals in such a trivial manner, and they should also stop trying to be something they aren't.

I still haven't got my marks from University, not that it matters.
Wrote my statics exam today (last night, technically) and boy was it shockingly hard. Too hard, if anything. I also packed up about 70% of my room. All the posters are taken down, books I don't need have been put away. Only 5 more days, and I'm out of here.

Compsci is my next exam, on sunday. It should be fairly easy. Of course, that's what I said about statics.

See ya'll soon.

The year is over. I'm otu of this place in 7 (6?) days. My good buddy Ryan left today. my roommate has been gone for a few days now. Fuck. This is actually kinda sad.

I started packing up and such. I took all my posters off the wall and threw out all my notes (about 7 kg of paper). I'm going to miss the hell out of this place, and a few of the people I met here. Anyways, back to NOT studying for my exams.

So not having any exams til friday has lulled me into a false sense of security. My reasoning is that I have tonnes of time to get ready for the coming of the 3 prime evils (statics, compsci, and physics). In reality, I should really be doing some sort of studying. My recent success over the Philosophy dragon hasn't helped either. I've essentially been spending my days sleeping in til 3, hanging out on my space, not eating, and designing the new Midway State website.

Yeah, I'm boring.

Yeah. I got beat down last night. Here's the story:

I was at a hardcore show at local London bar, the Embassy. The night was going fine, but i noticed that some of the people from out of town that were attending the show were not a fan of how the local kids were dancing. For some reason they called it "mirror dancing" and thought that they were all "posers". Anyways, this older guy (he honestly looked 40, but he was probably younger) thought it would be funny to slap one of my friends, Jesse, in the head.

And then punch him repeatedly in the face.

Jesse is 16, and didn't even try to fight back.

So I pulled this moron off of him, and the night continued. After the next band finished their set, the older guy started picking a fight again. It went like this:

Jesse: "Man, we're jsut trying to enjoy ourselves and have fun."
40man (to jesse): "Yeah, well you're a fucking... fucking idiot."
Me: "Oooh, a fucking idiot. That's bad."
40man (to me): "What did you say."
Me: "I said 'Oooh, a fucking idiot. That's bad.'"

So then the 40 year old guy punched me in the face a couple times, put me in a choke hold, and tried to strangle me to death. I didn't throw a single punch, hit, or even resist him at all. Eventually the bouncer broke it up, and the guy got kicked out.

If I ever see "Steel City Steve" again, I will probably jam a letter opener into his temple.

Hey! How've you been?

Wow. It's been a long time since I last updated. Too long, if anything. Where to begin...

The demo still isn't done, which bugs me. The engineer who is supposed to do the final mixdown is a very busy individual, and as such hasn't had the time to finish our project up. Apparently he's really good, so we're going to just wait it out. I was told it shoudl be done by the end of this week, or early next week by the latest. However, I had also been told that I had a beautiful soul by the same individuals, so I doubt their credibility.

In other music news, my soulmates in tensecondepic have finished recording their new CD. I really like it. Like, I really really like it. They have a track available for download on their website (which I recently finished designing).

Work has started on a new midway website. it's going to be good. I'm in the works of finding someone to script it for me so that content updates will be easier. However, I think I'm going to have to give up designing for a little while because exams are looming and I need to cut back on distractions. Speaking of distractions, I have taken to playing Diablo II again, which is pretty sad. I'm in desperate need of a new RPG, and World of Warcraft is only in its beta test stages. I'm so bitter that I didn't make the beta test cut, but I wrote them a nice letter anyways.

Class attendence has been down over the last couple weeks. I spend less hours "in lectures" and more hours "not in lectures". Exams are coming up, so I've been studying a whole lot, and oddly enough writing about a zillion midterms. My little engineering escapade a few weeks ago got a bunch of exams postponed for me and the WestEng Rudeboys, and I'm paying for it now.

I'll pull it off though. Apologies to Nick for being such a terrible student. As much as I love philosophy, all classes are expendable at this point.

GOULET!

Alright. Back at school, and thigns are going splendid.

Thursday is probably goign to be the biggest day of my entire life. I'm heading to Toronto to play Canadian Music Week and then immediately bussing to Hamilton to partake in the Canadian Engineering Competition. We are serously going to fuck shit up.

The best part of it is, Andrew Milne lives in Hamilton, so good times are guaranteed.

It was Jenna's birthday on monday and she bought me Full Collaps on clear gold vinyl. That ups my record collection to 3 LP's and one 7 inch. Now all I need is a record player...

I am stoked like you wouldn't believe that school is almost over. I need to really buckle down and do some work on calculus and the like, but that doesn't cramp my style in the least. I just can't wait for the summer. Everything that has been going on around me will finally come to fruition. I love being alive and nineteen.

everyone's favourite "-ation" activity

That's right. Procrastination. I have put off so much work over the last few weeks, and I am starting to feel the effects of it. Needless to say I continually tell myself that during reading week I will get things under control. Reading week started today for me, and I am stoked. Aside from the plethora of homework/backlogged assignments/overdue essays, I have very few plans.

One includes playing a show next saturday night in Collingwood. The CMW showcase is coming up really soon too, so we are going to be practicing liek mad.

Thats all I got for now. I'm sure I'll be making use of this as a time filler.

Weekend Update

This weekend was hella toight, and I'll tell you why:

We headed home at about noon on friday, and didn't get to Collingwood till a bit after five. After some milling around, the Midway State played our/their first hometown show in quite some time. The turnout was pretty solid. However, there were about one bazillion kids there that I didn't know at all. I guess I'm jsut getting old. We hit dinner after the show, which was good aswell.

Saturday consisted of me and the family going down to Barrie to watch my sister's first cheerleading competition. They came in 2nd place, whihc is pretty solid if you ask me. Afterwards I decided that i would treat everyone to valentines day dinner, whihc consisted of homemade pizza. It turned out alright, surprisingly, even though my oven is a huge failure at cooking things evenly. All in all, it was a fun time.

Sunday morning we caught a ride with Nate back to Toronto at about 7 am. Needless to say, I slept the entire way there and then again on the bus from Toronto to London. Got home, slept a bit more, caught up with the C-lower crew, and then went to bed.
